Protect YOURSELF
AND YOUR LOVED ONES
Centuries of racial inequality and discrimination sowed today’s health crisis.
Take these steps to protect yourself and your loved ones from COVID-19.
- Minimize your exposure to other people. The more people you see, the more vulnerable you are to contracting COVID-19.
- Keep a physical distance of six feet between yourself and others whenever possible.
-
ALWAYS wear a face mask when you are within six feet of people outside of your household.
*They can be made at home. Wash them with regular laundry detergent after each use. (Disposable masks are fine as well, but in short supply) - Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20-30 seconds: ALWAYS after you have been in public, after touching shared surfaces in your home, after the restroom, before you eat, and after coughing or sneezing. When soap and water are not available, carry and use hand-sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Cover sneezes and coughs with a tissue, throw it away, and wash your hands.
- DO NOT touch your face (eyes, nose, or mouth) unless you have just washed your hands.
- Clean and disinfect shared surfaces every day: sinks, keyboards, light switches, doorknobs, countertops, phones, faucets, such keys, with a disinfecting solution or wipe
- If someone gets sick, isolate that person from the rest of the household as much as possible. CALL your doctor for guidance. For severe symptoms — difficulty breathing or high fever — call your local emergency room for arrival instructions.
- Get tested if you have been around someone who may have COVID-19, even if you don’t feel sick. To get tested, contact your doctor or local public health department.
